What is Elder Law, Anyway?

We hear this question a lot! It seems that "Elder Law" is a term not yet familiar to many Americans, although it developed as a separate area of legal practice over 15 years ago. Even many lawyers do not know what comes under the heading of "Elder Law." In general, Elder Law encompasses any and all of the fields of legal practice that have particular impact on the elderly (and disabled). However, some areas of Elder Law, such as estate and asset protection planning, can apply to just about anyone of any age.
